And down the centuries, seekers have been coming to this land from all over the world. The country is poor, the country has nothing to offer, but to those who are sensitive it is the richest place on the earth. But the richness is of the inner. This poor country can give you the greatest treasure that is possible for human beings.

Often it is believed and thought that Hinduism is a religion and compared with Islam, Christianity and other set of beliefs. Gita of the the Hindus is compared to Bible or Quran. I am not disrespectful to any religion. I love Allah of Islam as much as I love God of Christians.

But, years of meditation led me to finally realize that God is beyond everything and Hinduism is not a set of word or beliefs or system that you tend to agree or believe. It is everything that exists in this universe. And therefore, every creature living or non-living is a Hindu.

Einstein was born to non-practising Jewish parents. Apart from a brief foray into religious fervor between the ages of eleven and twelve, he never observed any religion. In his following year he discovered science and concluded that the stories he read in the bible were just that – stories. Science became his new guide and he never again had any time for established religion, saying repeatedly that he thought it was for the naïve and fearful.

In Einstein words:

In every religion we find one type of self-devotion particularly developed. The type of working without a motive is most highly developed in Buddhism. Do not mistake Buddhism and Brâhminism. In this country you are very apt to do so. Buddhism is one of our sects. It was founded by a great man called Gautama, who became disgusted at the eternal metaphysical discussions of his day, and the cumbrous rituals, and more especially with the caste system. Some people say that we are born to a certain state, and therefore we are superior to others who are not thus born.

Love is the best known word on this earth – Every religion, every human being talks about it. Each religion has given its own definition of love and people have accepted it as per their religion. People have quoted it as a formula and have never tried to inquire about it. Let’s try to inquire today into the nature of love with more penetration and much greater awareness.

For most people love means comfort, security, a guarantee for the rest of their lives of continuous emotional satisfaction. But “Is that really love?” When you drive into a corner to look, you realize that what you have always thought of as love is not love at all; it is a mutual gratification, a mutual exploitation. Probably love has totally disappeared from this world. Love implies generosity and care, not to hurt another, not to make another feel guilty, but to be generous, courteous, and behave in such a manner that your words and thoughts are born out of compassion. Of course you cannot be compassionate if you belong to organized religious institutions – large, powerful, traditional, and dogmatic – that insist on faith. There must be freedom to love. Love is not pleasure, desire, a remembrance of things that have gone. Love is not the opposite of jealousy, hate and anger. In fact Love has no yesterday and no tomorrow. “When there is no centre, then there is love.”

One saw a bird dying, shot by a man. It was flying beautifully and with rhythmic beat, with such freedom and lack of fear. And the gun shattered it; it fell to the earth and all the life has gone out of it. A dog fetched it and the man collected other dead birds. He was chattering with his friend and seemed so utterly indifferent. All that he was concerned with was bringing down lot many birds. Man is killing all over the world. The marvelous great animals of the sea, the whales are killed in millions and the tiger, leopard, cheetahs and so many other animals are now becoming endangered species. Man is the only animal that is to be dreaded.

"It is better to tell you from the very beginning that I am also a practical man, much more practical than you can ever be. I don't believe in theories, I believe in experiments. I don't say that religion begins in belief, I say religion begins in experience.

"But I am a different kind of practical man than you are. You are only halfheartedly practical; maybe you are practical in the outside world. But there is an inner world too which needs as much scientific approach as the outside world does. In fact, it needs more accurate observation, more unprejudiced mind, more existential approach than the outside world. But I can understand your problem. It happens to all the so-called practical people who think in terms of money, power and prestige, who are basically extroverts, who only look to that which is outside, who have never tried to explore their inner world; that dimension they have not even touched. They have completely forgotten that they have got a within too.

What is the task of teaching the young? Or modern education?

Question: It is the universally accepted conclusion of modern intellectuals that educators have failed. What is, then, the task of those whose function it is to teach the young?

Krishnamurti: There are several problems involved in this, and to understand them, one must go very carefully into them. First of all, why do you have children? Is it mere accident, an unwanted event? Do you have children to carry on your name, title or estate? Or do you love, and therefore you have children? Which is it? If you have children merely as toys, something to play with, or if you are lonely and a child helps you to cover up that loneliness - then children become important because they are your own self-projection. But if children are not a mere means of amusement or a result of accidents, if you really love them in the profound sense of that word - and to love somebody means to be in complete communion with them - , then education has quite a different significance. If as a parent you really love your children, you will see that they have the right kind of education. In other words, children must be helped to be intelligent, sensitive, to have a mind and heart that are pliable, able to deal with any situation. Surely, if you really love your child, you as a parent will not be a nationalist, you will not belong to any country, you will not belong to any organized religion; because, obviously, if you are a nationalist, if you worship the State, then you inevitably destroy your son, because you are creating war. If you really love your son, you will find out what is your right relationship with property; because it is the possessive instinct which has given property such enormous significance, and which is destroying the world. Again, if you really love your children, you will not belong to any particular religion, because belief creates antagonism between man and man. It you love your children, you will do all these things. So, that is one aspect.

I know this is not a place to discuss and write about religion. But, being an indian myself, I cannot help, but write my self about the country and its history.

Everytime whenever i think of the country, I look into the history for what is happening and what should be happening.
It hurts me in pain when i see the past of the country and how we have ignored ourselves and are still willing to do so. We are no less than anybody and should ACKNOWLEDGE our power and strength. I am full of patriotism and feel great when I say I am indian or have a hindu background.

Here, is a beautiful review by a FRENCH guy on India and the things that have been happpening here:
